It is fairly unusual for Lochroe to work with a client on our own doorstep in the Borders so we were glad of the opportunity to raise funds for this new business to set up in Newtown St Boswells. This project was a major new start requiring funding in excess of £1m which had been met with negative responses from a number of banks already. When Lochroe became involved there was a lot of work to be done to ensure the success of the project.
We worked with the client to cover available equity and public sector funds. Then structured the debt in a way that would be more acceptable to the banks. Having received a number of interested bank responses we set up meetings with the client next to the proposed development site. Following this there were two offers made for the business.
Benefits: We provided the client with a professional structure to raising the funds. For a project of this size we allowed the necessary resource to be used in finding the funds in the most appropriate way. By doing this we were able to revisit the banks that had seen the project and were successful in raising the finance.
